Rick Tamblyn brings a level of energy to reads which is refreshing. His interpretation of 'regular guy' characters makes for believable dialog and authentic narratives. I remember a session when he was cast for a character voice, and after running several different possibilities by us, the director, kind of intrigued by the variety, says 'Well let me hear more.' So Rick says 'Just a minute,' runs out to his car and grabs this loose-leaf notebook with a couple-hundred pages, and then proceeds to give us a whole bunch more characters. I was amazed. I'd never seen a voice talent show up with an owner's manual to his voice. But apparently Rick had figured out some kind of prompts or cues to remind him of all those guys who live inside his head, and we got just exactly what the creatives were looking for. I really dig working with him.
